Michael received a B.S. in Computer Science from Cornell University in 2003. During his undergraduate career, Michael was first introduced to bioinformatics while working as a research assistant on a data mining project. In 2005, Michael received a M.S. in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine. In 2008, Michael received a Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science with a specialization in Bioinformatics from the University of California, Irvine. While at UC Irvine, Michael worked on a variety of projects including protein structure and feature prediction, protein NMR optimization, plant TE identification.
Michael is currently researching a variety of topics in the Proteome Exploration Laboratory including protein quantitation, protein identification, post-translational modification identification and data visualization.
Michael enjoys spending his free time outdoors, either rock climbing or hiking in the surrounding mountains.
